A Clearer View Underground: JMAR in Action
Just-measure has completed its latest field assignment using JMAR (Just Measure Robotics), a new method for building a continuous, vertical nitrate profile inside a groundwater borehole. Rather than relying on a handful of samples taken at scattered depths, JMAR measures nitrate concentration — and signal quality — all the way down through the well, giving a far more detailed picture of how nitrate levels change with depth. This kind of detail is what makes JMAR useful in practice. Utilities can see precisely where nitrate is entering a borehole, which means well screens can be placed more accurately, unwanted nitrate can be kept out of the intake, and wells can be designed to perform better from day one. The technology has already been independently tested in collaboration with the Danish Technological Institute, and this latest fieldwork shows it performing reliably under real working conditions, producing clear, high-quality data throughout the borehole profile. With a working, field-proven method now delivering results in real assignments, we at Just-measure see strong potential for this approach anywhere where groundwater quality and well design are a priority. JMAR is an insightful tool that we're keen to bring to more water utilities going forward.
